Week 2 Term 3

Our children are able to choose materials, find their own interests and sustain their play. They are able to work cooperatively with others and enjoy creating stories by sharing their ideas and negotiating with each other. Making marble runs have been a focal point of the children's play this week.

Look at these awesome creations made with Lego!

Working together to create a story together. Amazing negotiation happening here.

This week, we are using a different art medium to create our pictures. We drew the pictures of nocturnal animals. We have learnt what nocturnal animals are and its significance. Whiro in the story of the 3 Baskets of Knowledge was very angry about Tāne getting the baskets from Io. Whiro attacked Tāne with his friends, the nocturnal animals.
After the children drew with a pencil, they used a squeeze bottle which had the mixture of black ink and PVA glue to trace their pencil lines. Once this dried, they pained with the water colour. This gives wonderfully beautiful effects.

We are very busy!

Welcome back to Term 3!
The children are happy to be back and enjoy the play-based learning environment.

We have brought the sandpit inside and the children have been busy playing with dinosaurs, building with sticks. Lots of story telling and dramatic play happening here!

"My house."

Children love reading books/stories that are familiar to them. They especially love the books by Peter Gossage.

We are working very hard to prepare for the Art Exhibition. We are creating the story of 3 Baskets of Knowledge. The children love this story. This week we weaved the 3 baskets together!
We have been trying weaving with different materials since last term, and the children have really got the concept of weaving.

This is something very special that we are preparing for the art exhibition. They are being in the character of Io from the story.
