Week 2 Term 3

Our children are able to choose materials, find their own interests and sustain their play. They are able to work cooperatively with others and enjoy creating stories by sharing their ideas and negotiating with each other. Making marble runs have been a focal point of the children's play this week.

Look at these awesome creations made with Lego!

Working together to create a story together. Amazing negotiation happening here.

This week, we are using a different art medium to create our pictures. We drew the pictures of nocturnal animals. We have learnt what nocturnal animals are and its significance. Whiro in the story of the 3 Baskets of Knowledge was very angry about Tāne getting the baskets from Io. Whiro attacked Tāne with his friends, the nocturnal animals.
After the children drew with a pencil, they used a squeeze bottle which had the mixture of black ink and PVA glue to trace their pencil lines. Once this dried, they pained with the water colour. This gives wonderfully beautiful effects.

  1. We enjoyed seeing your lovely pictures of nocturnal animals because it lets us see your support for them! We love the idea and maybe you could give us some instructions and tips so we could try it? What inspired you to do it? Caprice and Madylin Room 9.
