Kia ora, Konnichiwa. My name is Yoshie and I am the Room 2 teacher. It is so wonderful to welcome new children in my class. I was born in Japan, and have been living in Hamilton for 18 years. I was an early childhood teacher for more than 10 years before becoming a new entrant teacher in Hamilton East School. I look forward to getting to know the tamariki and their whānau this term.
We had lots of fun on the first day of school, starting our mat time with songs and karakia. We introduced each other and got to know each other's name.
We then went on a tour around school and learnt where things were. We went to play at Pūtikitiki which we really enjoyed!
The children explored the classroom by taking their time in each area of their interests.
The children were very interested and focused through this fun activity.
First day of school was such a fun day. I really enjoyed getting know the the new children and being a part of their play too. We will learn together and create our Room 2 culture!
