Our school maps

Last week before we start exploring maps, I made a big maze on the courts and got the children to explore the maze. They could cross the yellow lines but not the blue ones. There were lots of communication among the children and other children directing the one in the maze using words like "forward, 1 step, turn left/right"...

Today I shared different types of maps with the children and showed the map of the school. We discussed where the places were in relation to our classroom.
How do we get to the pool? Where is the redwood tree? What is in front of our classrooms?

Then, children drew the map of our school

It shows the children's understanding about the positions of the significant places of our school. Awesome work everyone!
