Learning about dinosaurs and volcanoes

As children have returned to school, there seems to be a big interest around dinosaurs, so this week we have been exploring what dinosaurs are and some are also wanting to know more about volcanoes.

We have been integrating writing into our play so there has been some writing involved as the children are playing with dinosaurs.

From the children's interests, we learnt about different types of dinosaurs. Carnivore dinosaurs who eat meat and herbivore dinosaurs are plant eaters.
Some are very interested in fossils so we have explored them too. We made dinosaur fossils with salt dough flour in the end. This was a very exciting process.

Since last week, we have been doing some science experiments using vinegar and baking soda. This week, children made a volcano in the sandpit and we experimented with the ingredients. Many children know what happens when these two ingredients are mixed together.
Next week we will learn more about dinosaurs and volcanoes!
