Week 2: Learning about the layers of the earth!

This week we have been learning about what is inside the earth. If we were to dig the ground towards the middle of the earth? what will there be? 

There has been many discussions about what could be inside the earth and it has been so amazing to listen to the children's ideas. 

Some children said 'dirt', 'rock', 'magma', 'It is really hot in the middle.', 'fire'. Interesting to hear some children said there is fire in the middle. Awesome thinkers in Room 2! 

We also talked about how the inside of the earth affect volcanic activities. 

We talked about the layers of the earth, Crust, Mantle, Outer Core and Core. We drew a picture of the inside of the earth on the court with chalk and pretended to walk towards the middle of the earth. Everyone got the idea that as it got closer to the Core, it got hotter and everyone run away!
